THE TITLES just keep piling up for Akela Jones.

Add the conference crown to Jones’ ever-growing resume after the 19-year-old
athletics star jumped 6.37 metres to win the weekend’s long jump competition at the Big 12
Indoor Track and Field Championship in Ames, Iowa.

Competing on the opening day for NCAA Division I school Kansas State, the Wildcat junior recorded the winning mark in her second jump of the evening on Saturday to easily beat
an 18-man field.

The victorious jump was well off her personal best of 6.64 metres set just two weeks ago at the Tyson Invitational in Arkansas, but was more than good enough to extend her winning streak on the collegiate circuit.
