Art with heart
CANADIAN-BORN ARTIST Maureen Tracey’s appreciation of the beauty and culture of Barbados began when she became a young bride in Barbados back in the 1970s.
Her training developed over the years in many art disciplines, including work in the fashion and textiles industries, which rely heavily on colour, shape and form.
Tracey’s art form is one that is easily recognisable as her themes are all iconic images of Barbados. Recently she added into her art a humorous rendition of the Black belly sheep, which she calls “love sheep” as all the sheep wear little heart necklaces.
For the upcoming Caribbean Fine Art Fair on March 11-15 at Divi Southwinds Resort, Tracey has been selected to showcase her work as one of three Caribbean artists who though not born in Barbados, paint in Barbados.
Her work will be exhibited during the five-day event, which is celebrating its fifth edition as a fine art fair and symposium. (CCH)
