OLDER BUT SLOWER.

That was the case with the Under-20 girls at Alleyne School’s inter-house track and field championships at the National Stadium yesterday, as the younger athletes ran faster times.

Haynes House (Red), spearheaded by the school’s two fastest girls, Ka-Neil Gale and Shemia Odaine, easily retained their title in grand style with 1107 points.

Read (Yellow, 941) won a close battle for second with Alleyne (Blue, 939) while Cumberbatch (Green, 840) finished last.

The 15-year-old Gale, who hails from St Elizabeth Village in St Joseph, copped the victrix ludorum crown with 103 points after emphatic wins in the 100, 200 and 400 metres yesterday.
