Boyce: On hold

THE PLANS to build a new hospital have been shelved for now.

But, said Health Minister John Boyce, whenever the new facility is built in “the not too distant future” it will not have been built at a cost of US$500 million to offer “free health care”.

The health minister was wrapping up debate, on the allocation of $251 416 133 to the Ministry of Health in the Estimates of Expenditure in the House of Assembly yesterday.

He was responding to Opposition Barbados Labour Party member Kerrie Symmonds, who queried at what stage the plans were for any new medical facility. (HLE)
