Fired Up!
SPORT SHOOTERS in Barbados have fired back, via the law courts, at Acting Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith over his decision not to renew the gun licences of members of the fraternity.
On Tuesday, attorney at law Garth Patterson, a competitive shooter, filed ,a suit in the High Court against the commissioner charging that his actions were “unlawful, illegal, and a naked abuse of power”.
Patterson is asking the High Court to restrain the commissioner from “refusing to renew or revoking any firearm licence that was issued … for sporting or target shooting purposes” for any reason other than those set out in Section 15 of the Firearms Act.
But DAILY NATION investigations revealed that the commissioner is about to become an even bigger target. (RRM)
