Appointments NUPW’s priority

DON’T BE surprised if the National Union of Public Workers starts putting additional pressure on Government to appoint more public servants.

Those appointments are the main priority of new president Akanni McDowall, a 34-year-old health promotion officer with the Ministry of Health, who replaces retiring trade unionist Walter Maloney.

“Too many people in the public service have been complaining about not being appointed and it is something that we have to tackle as priority number one, priority number two and priority number three,” McDowall told cheering supporters last night at the NUPW complex in Dalkeith, St Michael, shortly after he was declared winner.
