BARBADOS’ MULTI-EVENT ATHLETES will get an early taste of action on the first full day of the 44th edition of the CARIFTA Games which has attracted 26 countries at the Silver Jubilee Stadium in St Kitts-Nevis, this morning.

The Caribbean’s premier junior track and field meet got under way last night with the opening ceremony, followed by the finals in the Under-18 Girls’ discus and Under-20 Girls’ triple jump.

The pole vault for Under-20 boys’ was also slated to be contested as well as the 400 metres semi-finals in all age groups.

St Michael students Ayanna Morgan and Danielle Scantlebury will have four events in the Girls’ heptathlon while Combermerians Romarco Thompson and Josiah Beckles will have a similar number of events in the Open Boys’ octathlon. (EZS/CMC)
