Bajan girls serve up a win

Top Barbados doubles pairing Kiana Marshall and Cherise Slocombe grabbed their second ITF junior tennis title yesterday with a comeback win over the No. 1 seeds at the National Tennis Centre.

Contesting the championship play-off in the ScotiaBank/ITF Barbados International junior tournament, the Barbadians fought from a set down to defeat Maria Colorado-Zavalla of Mexico and Lillian Gabrielsen of Norway 4-6, 6-2, 10-1, in the Under-18 girls’ doubles.

With the victory, the Barbadians added 30 points to their international rankings and also lifted their second international title, following victory in another ITF/ Grade 4 tournament in Tobago last year.
