Team in line for chess gold
BARBADOS are eying gold in the fourth annual CARIFTA Chess Championships.
As the host country opened up a seven-point lead with two rounds of matches remaining, several of their top players were also positioning themselves yesterday for individual glory in the Massy United-sponsored championships at Divi Southwinds Hotel.
After five rounds of matches involving more than 100 players from nine countries, Barbados were on top with 33 points, followed by Suriname on 26 with Trinidad and Tobago and Martinique a distant third on nine points.
