Young Barbadian attending water conference in South Korea

EIGHTEEN-YEAR-OLD Barbadian Kenzya Patterson has been selected to be a youth water parliamentarian at the World Youth Water Parliament (WYWP) in South Korea from April 5 to 18, 2015.

Kenzya is an aspiring entrepreneur in the field of economics and accounting and a final year student at Harrison College. As a member of the Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN), she applied for the conference along with thousands of other youth from across the globe. She will be representing the organisation in Daegu and Gyeongbuk this month.

The World Youth Parliament for Water 3rd General Assembly aims to promote the involvement of young people in water and sanitation issues. It occurs every three years and by participating, Patterson will get to share ideas and best practices from Barbados and discuss action strategies with international decision-makers and other stakeholders.

The other Caribbean participant is from Haiti and is also a member of the CYEN.

cyenThe CYEN is one of the oldest and largest active regional youth non-governmental organisation with over 18 chapters in the region. It strives to empower and educate youth on issues which matter to their development and the development of their countries. (PR)
