APPROXIMATELY 9 000 households will be receiving locally made LED bulbs for free thanks to a $1 million lighting facility programme.
The initiative was launched recently at Caribbean LED Lighting Inc in Lower Estate,
St Michael and the company’s executive chairman Jim Reid said the idea was to help save Barbadians money and reduce energy consumption levels.
“The great thing about this is these bulbs are made in Barbados. They are rated for
30 000 hours of use and carry a fully three-year warranty,” he said.
Reid said the giveaway was responsible for the company hiring more staff to make the bulbs and as the company continued to grow, he said they should be able to permanently hire more employees.
