REDEVELOPMENT OF THE NATIONAL STADIUM will carry a US$54 million price tag.

Minister of Sport Stephen Lashley revealed the estimated cost to the NATION yesterday, noting it would include demolition of the stands and a new cycling velodrome.

“The stadium is a priority. We have to chart a way forward. Our athletes need to train and compete in quality conditions,” said Lashley, noting that a proposal was being prepared for the project which because of its magnitude would have to be done in phases.

“There is a document which sets out the redevelopment project for the National Stadium and that will be going before the Cabinet very shortly,” he added.
