THE BARBADOS ASSOCIATION of Principals of Public Secondary Schools (BAPPSS) is offering to mediate in the ongoing impasse over the grading of School Based Assessments (SBAs) between the teachers’ unions and the Ministry of Education.
This stance reportedly followed a meeting with members earlier this week, and correspondence dated today has been forwarded to both teachers’ union and the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations (CTUSAB). The principals have also suggested that the assistance of CTUSAB be sought in this matter.
A similar offer has been made by the Barbados National Council of Parent-teacher Associations which, like BAPPSS, is looking for a resolution to the matter in the best interest of the island’s children in time to meet the April 15 deadline for submission of SBAs to the ministry. (YB)
