Bridgetown Port after No.1 position in Caribbean

THE BRIDGETOWN PORT is working towards becoming the leading seaport in the entire Caribbean.

And this is no pie in the sky dream, points out Barbados Port Inc. chief executive officer, David Jean-Marie.

Already it is ranked second in the region behind the Dominican Republican according to the World Bank’s Doing Business 2015 report which measures 11 areas of business regulation in 189 countries.

The specific area related to the port is Trading Across Borders which looks at documentation, time and cost to export and import by seaport. Here, Barbados ranks 38th globally, and second in the region after the Dominican Republic at 24.
