Barbados Gems win Jean Pierre tourney with match in hand

WITH ONE MATCH REMAINING, Barbados are the champions of the 2015 Caribbean Netball Association Jean Pierre Youth Tournament.

Earlier tonight in Castries, St Lucia, Barbados defeated Trinidad and Tobago 26-12 following last night’s 29-16 win over St Lucia.

With that victory, Barbados are still the only unbeaten team. Only St Vincent and the Grenadines are standing in the way of a complete win streak. The two teams will meet in the final match tomorrow.

The Gems led Trinidad and Tobago 6-2, 13-5 and 18-8 over the first three quarters.

Romancia Odwin scored 19 from 27 and Trishan Deane seven from nine. Lana Dillon shot nine from ten and Romaria Joseph three from four for Trinidad and Tobago.

In the other completed match, Dominica defeated St Vincent and the Grenadines 25-20. Grenada and St Lucia were scheduled to play in the late game.

Yesterday evening, Barbados also won the team shooting competition with Stephian Shepherd, Brianna Holder and Niara Forde.  Forde, who has been fighting a knee injury, also placed second among individual shooters. (SAT)
