New reference lab in the works
BARBADOS SHOULD have a new state-of-the-art reference laboratory in less than two years.
Minister of Health John Boyce and United States Ambassador Dr Larry Palmer broke the soil at the Enmore, Martindale’s Road, St Michael site earlier today.
The Barbados National Reference Laboratory will be the amalgamation of Ladymeade Reference Unit, the Public Health and the Leptospira laboratories. It is being constructed at a cost of just over US$9 million, US$6 million of which is coming from the United States Government through the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. (YB)
