THE BARBADOS Gems are the queens of the Caribbean Netball Association’s Jean Pierre Under-16 netball tournament for the third time.

Fittingly, the young Barbadian lasses earned the title by thrashing long-time rivals Trinidad and Tobago 26-12 in their penultimate match on Wednesday night at the Vigie Sports Complex for a fifth consecutive victory.

That followed Tuesday’s 29-16 victory over St Lucia on a day the Bajans also won the team shooting competition through the accuracy of Stephian Shepherd, Brianna Holder and Niara Forde.

Forde, who has been fighting a knee injury, also placed second among individual shooters.
Dominica helped Barbados to secure the crown with a match in hand when they defeated St Vincent and the Grenadines 25-20.
