ARE YOU WHERE you’ve always wanted to be?

I am halfway there as I have so much more I would like to do. Fortunately, I have been blessed with so many extraordinary opportunities and experiences. Professionally, I have an exciting career in sales, and personally I am living a passionate life with all the things that incorporate who I am.

What is your biggest professional challenge?

People that have no interests in being flexible with change and open to new technology that gives them endless possibilities, like accessing information from a remote location away from your office or having security features that ensures safety for you and your customers. How can you live in a world that is moving forward and remain stationary?

What is your biggest life challenge?

Settling. I am a person with so many interests, and I want to try them all. I have a gift for sales, but I also have a passion for so many other things. Currently, I am in telecoms, specifically, business solutions with Columbus Business Solutions and I had always been fearful of technology.

However, I was given the opportunity to start at the bottom and learn, which I found that extremely challenging at times but it has been incredibly rewarding for me and has opened my eyes to endless possibilities. This is another step towards living a full life without fear.

When you look to the future what do you see?

I would like to retire from a successful corporate career and move into the restaurant business, another one of my passions. I definitely will spend my days in Consett Bay on a boat fishing by day and being in the restaurant by night.
I am passionate about ethnic foods and diverse cooking techniques. I am sure this how I will spend the balance of my days.

What is your favourite pastime?

It definitely has to be cooking and spending my time on my family farm in Minnesota. Anyone who knows me knows I am a country girl to my heart. I am most passionate about organic farming. Watching something you grow go from farm to table is such
a beautiful thing.

What is your favourite meal?

Rib-eye steak done medium with a balsamic reduction and bleu cheese crumbles, haricot vert (French green beans), with garlic mashed and a glass of Malbec wine.

On Saturday nights where are you likely to be?

After an entire day of making pudding and souse, I would be relaxing with friends at Eastpoint Bar and Grill.

What upsets you the most?

Wasted talent.

What is your guiding philosophy?

There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living – Nelson Mandela. I breathe this. I believe he had me in mind when he wrote this.

If you had the chance to manage Barbados for a day, what would you do?

The removal of certain taxes first and foremost and to also fulfil a mandate to make good on debts owed so that we can return to good financial standing. I would also remove value added tax on food – which is a necessity – to ensure that everyone’s cupboards and stomachs are full.
I would make it a law for all people and businesses in Barbados to recycle and to set mandatory green practices for all.

Kerry Robinson is corporate account manager – Columbus Business Solutions.
