DIRECTOR OF Parent Education for Development in Barbados (PAREDOS), Marcia Graham, is urging Barbadian parents to stop focusing so much on providing their children with material things and instead spending quality time bonding with them.

“We have a counselling department and the people who come to us, many of them emphasise the material things, ‘I give him this, I give him that, yet still they do not behave the way that we want them to’,” Graham said.

She was speaking at Princess Margaret Secondary School over the weekend during a PAREDOS workshop entitled Parenting With A Heart Of Love. She said the workshops were aimed at getting parents to understand what love looked like. (LK)
