MINISTRY OF EDUCATION OFFICIALS are defending the way they handled the environmental problems that forced the closure of Combermere School, resulting in senior students being relocated to Erdiston Teachers’ Training College.
As work continues to rectify the problems at the Waterford, St Michael school, Minister of Education Ronald Jones said any decision on resuming classes there would be based on reports from the experts trying to resolve the issues that caused a number of teachers and students to fall ill.
Jones led a delegation of officials from the ministries of health and labour, along with principal Vere Parris, on a tour of the school yesterday afternoon to get a first-hand view on the work being undertaken. (JS)
