Parish goals set
CHRISTOPHER HARRIS and Kerri-Ann Bourne are passionate about serving their community.
As they spoke to the WEEKEND NATION about themselves and their parish project, it was hard to miss how the St Michael parish ambassadors feel about their communities of St Stephen’s Housing Area and Lodge Hill and about the parish they are representing in this edition of the Parish Ambassadors programme under the aegis of the Community Independence Secretariat.
Harris, a 29-year-old business teacher at Queen’s College and Bourne, 23, a staff accountant with Burrowes Chartered Accountants, are eager to tell anyone who would listen about their project – STEP OUT!!! or Sustaining Tourism Empowering People, which will highlight and celebrate “community assets”.
Why did they step up and get involved in the parish ambassadors programme?
“I have always wanted to give back to my community and I thought the parish ambassadors programme would be a great forum for me to begin. This is just the start, not the end,” said Bourne, an Ellerslie Secondary School alumna.
