MORE THAN 70 waste haulers and movers will park their trucks outside the Mangrove Pond Landfill in St Thomas tomorrow in their latest protest against a new disposal fee.

One of them, Anderson Cherry, who is managing director of Jose Y Jose Liquid and Solid Waste Management Inc., also said they will issue their employees with “blue papers” to take to the unemployment bureau.

The operators could not survive under the new tipping fee of $25 a tonne that went into operation last week, he added. Previously the Government footed the bill.

Cherry said when members of the group assemble tomorrow, they would speak on different topics relating to the negative effect the tipping fee could have on the country through illegal dumping and build-up of waste. (MB)
