IT WAS A DAY filled with excitement and suspense yesterday at the Garrison Savannah when the Barbados Turf Club opened its second racing season in grand style with the staging of the Mother’s Day Race Day.
The feature race bought the large crowd on hand to its feet as Sirius Black and Indiano Jones confronted each other in a breathtaking stretch duel in the Mother’s Day Handicap over 1 800 metres for the top rated horses 140-122 and also open to those rated 121 and below.
Sirius Black led the field into the home turn ahead of challenger Indiano Jones and jockey Antonio Whitehall raging hot fire. This battle bought loud ooh’s and aah’s from spectators as the duo went toe to toe. (LY)
