SMOOTH WAS THE TEMPO transition on the first night of Jazz on Pigeon Island last Friday.
Kicking off the last three days of the St Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, Beres Hammond, krosfyah and Meschach all gave strong performances which were well received by the crowd.
Opening the show was creative arts group Protégé, whose set contained elements ranging from interpretive dance and street dance to song and spoken word.
Immediately following them was the conscious “warrior” Meschach who covered a wide range of his reggae repertoire. The smooth vibes were swiftly pumped up by Barbadian band krosfyah, who got the remainder of the seated crowd to jump and wave to their hits such as Sac Passé, Cranking, Oil Pumping, Pump Me Up and selections from local and international artistes.
