No mass layoffs last year, says BEC president

THERE WERE NO mass layoff of private sector workers in Barbados in 2014.

While about four companies folded, President of the Barbados Employers’ Confederation (BEC) Ian Gooding-Edghill said there was an increase in membership during the year under review.

Speaking during a media briefing on the BEC’s week of activities, he said there was also an increase in demand for the services offered through the BEC. Membership of the BEC currently stands at 210. (YB)
