NOT ONE FISH has been landed at the fishing village of Skeete’s Bay, St Philip, since the season started more than six months ago.

And one boat owner is alleging that because of the impact the Sargassum seaweed has had on the industry, the island is importing fish by the “container load”.

The boat owner, based at the St Philip fish market, revealed that the feet-thick seaweed on the beach was presenting such a problem at the site that fishermen and boat owners had not been able to launch their boats in recent times. (HLE)
