‘Shortage of men’ at Open Campus

MEN ARE NOT enrolling in the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus in enough numbers and that is of concern to the new head of the institution.

Dr Luz Longsworth says while she is “very happy” that large numbers of women continue to enrol, she remains “very worried” that men are vastly outnumbered.

“We are looking at programming that will encourage our male students to enter,” she told reporters last Friday.

“The previous principal [Professor Eudine Barriteau] has an excellent programme which she has put in place for the Open Campus which we will be carrying on and it’s called Off The Blocks And Before Their Laptops. (TY)
