PROUDLY WEARING THE INSIGNIA of knighthood around his neck, veteran local and international sports administrator Sir Austin Sealy yesterday paid tribute to colleagues in sports “who have travelled with me”, after an investiture ceremony at Government House.
He expressed gratitude to deceased partners in administration of local sport, such as Dr Norris Procope, and Noel Symmonds.
“I do have to remember all those who assisted, and say thanks.”
Sir Austin, 75, was made a Knight Bachelor of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours for his distinguished service to sports administration. Yesterday he knelt to be dubbed by Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave, in the presence of family and friends, many of whom came from overseas.
