Call for capital works ‘spark’
A MAJOR CAPITAL works programme is a sure way to “ignite” growth and stimulate the Barbadian economy.
This is among recommendations from the Barbados Employers’ Confederation (BEC), which remains deeply concerned about the state of the economy.
President Ian Gooding-Edghill said: “We believe that construction could be an area of substantial benefit and we also recognise that this sector is an area of substantial benefit . . . .
“We would want, obviously, Government to look at the capital works programme and see if we can get through with some important works there to also reduce the level of unemployment in that sector.” YB
