He spent his entire monthly salary of $240 in 1962 on buying his first polo horse.

Some 53 years later, Sir Charles Williams believes it was one of the best investments he ever made, and today he claims to be the most blessed and happiest man alive.

The news that made headlines last week of his entry into the Guinness Book of World Records is still sinking in. He became the world’s oldest active polo player, overtaking South African Harold Smith, who was awarded the title in September 2004 at the age of 75.

Sir Charles says the honour has brought him tremendous joy as polo is the No. 1 love of the businessman many call a construction magnate.
