Hurdles record tumbles

RYAN KING’S nine-year-old 400-metre hurdles record at the Austin Sealy Invitational Track Classic has been smashed.

Two rising stars did the damage on day 2 of the competition at the National Stadium on Saturday.

Stephen Griffith took the event in 51.97 seconds, just edging out Rivaldo Leacock who clocked 52.06 seconds. King’s mark stood at 52.60 seconds.

There was no stopping Stefon Cadogan-Caesar in the Boys’ Under-18 equivalent as he posted 58.07 ahead of Shem Forde representing The Lodge in 59.41 seconds. Jesse Whittington came third in 1.01.78.
