Mother still not talking

THE ST LUCY COMMUNITY of Fryer’s Well remained in a volatile state as the mother of an apparent suicide victim remained mum yesterday.

As rumours swirled about a morning visit by police to the woman’s apartment, police public relations officer, acting Assistant Superintendent David Welch, said the visit was merely in the course of investigations.

A Nation team once again tried to talk to the mother of 12-year-old Shamar Weekes, Julie-Ann, yesterday afternoon, but repeated knocks on the door elicited no answer, even though a radio was heard in the background.
