Rise in earnings from region

LOCAL MANUFACTURERS have been seeing some positive returns from the CARICOM market.

Barbados’ exports to CARICOM grew by 43 per cent during the period 2011-2014, Minister of Industry, Donville Inniss revealed last evening.

He told those attending the official launch of this year’s Barbados Manufacturers’ Association exhibition BMEX on at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre that this meant earnings of $284 million last year as compared with $198 million in 2011.

While he is pleased with the growth in regional exports and  wants to see this trend continued he has tasked “BIDC and other stakeholders to let us get our exports up by a similar amount over the next five years”. (ES)
