Councils ‘amended for more impact’

THE AMENDMENTS made to the Constituency Councils were designed to make them more effective.

So said Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development Steve Blackett, while delivering the feature address at the swearing-in ceremony for the 30 members of the 12 constituency councils. It took place at the Warrens Office Complex last Saturday.

Blackett noted that the Constituency Councils programme had passed through the embryonic stage since its inception in 2009 and was now in a prime position to be stabilised even further, in order to make a significantly greater impact across the nation.
