THE PRESIDENT of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry Tracey Shuffler today called for a speedy settlement of the problems that triggered a go-slow by Customs & Excise Department staff at the Bridgetown Port.

Addressing the chamber’s monthly business luncheon at Hilton Barbados, Shuffler complained that the go-slow was hurting manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and other business people.

She said it was restricting sales, hampering production and adding costs to the business people’s operations.

The go-slow was a response to moves to transfer customs officers and guards to the Barbados Revenue Authority. Those affected have been meeting with their trade unions. (TY)
