THE OPTION PAPERS for Customs officers due today have been pulled from the table.

And with that, an escalation of the work-to-rule instituted by the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) at the Customs Department has been averted – at least for now.

On a day of intense trade union activity – with the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) also joining in the Customs issue – a high-level BWU delegation, led by general secretary Toni Moore, retired general secretary Sir Roy Trotman and senior assistant general secretary Orlando “Gabby” Scott, and scores of customs officers and customs guards met with permanent secretary in the Ministry of the Civil Service, Martin Cox, at Government Headquarters yesterday evening.
