SEVERAL EMPLOYEES of the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) shed tears this week with the news that 15 of themĀ  were being sent home.

Following a staff meeting on Wednesday, it was revealed by management that 13 of the workers would be forced to take early retirement by September 30, while two from the statutory boardā€™s information technology department were terminated with immediate effect and reportedly escorted off the premises at Harbour Road, St Michael, by a security officer.

WEEKENDā€ˆNATION investigations have revealed that the 13 to lose their jobs include two managers, four secretaries, one clerical officer, three maids, one handyman, one security guard and a receptionist. According to sources, some of those being forced to retire have been with the BIDC for more than 30 years.
