Barbadians told not to take hurricane season lightly

IT ONLY TAKES one severe storm to disrupt Barbadians’ lives, warns the Department of Emergency Management.

Therefore, Barbadians are being urged to take precautions for the Atlantic Hurricane Season which officially starts tomorrow.

DEM acting director Kerry Hinds said yesterday that predictions suggest the region is in for a lower than average season with three hurricanes and seven named storms, and because of this forecast some people might not take their advice seriously. But to do so would be a mistake.
