Jazz in the graveyard

A WALK among the tombstones proved more fascinating than eerie on Saturday as scores attended the St Mary’s Anglican Church sunset affair Jazz In The Yard – A Heritage Gala.

The fundraising event for the restoration of a damaged 200-year-old tomb included big-name musicians and a guided tour of the historic churchyard.

The Barclay tomb was damaged when a huge and extremely old mahogany tree was uprooted by the elements in January. The tomb is the resting place of members of the Barclay family, related to a former president of Liberia from the 1900s.
