Owner put on notice

THE TRANSPORT AUTHORITY has put the operator [owner] of the ZR van that overturned on Tuesday injuring several schoolgirls, on notice that the permit will be suspended.

Abdul Pandor, chairman of the Transport Authority, told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday that he was minded to have Fatima Raja’s permit suspended. However, it was necessary for the authority to follow procedures before taking such drastic action.

He pointed out that the law allowed the Transport Authority to suspend the licence or permit of PSV operators even before a criminal charge was filed.
