Work starts on new bus terminal
CONSTRUCTION OF the new River Bus Terminal is under way.
No timelines for completion has been given, but staff from the Ministry of Transport and Works are on site debushing and cleaning the existing structure in order for work on the $2.5 million structure to begin.
Minister of Transport Michael Lashley toured the property, which is on the compound of the Ministry of Education, this morning accompanied by a contingent made up of staff of his ministry, the Transport Authority and architect Stanton Haynes.
In order to board a bus, passengers will have to enter the terminal and proceed to a designated bay. The top floor of the building will house offices, a police outpost, inspectors from the Licensing Authority and some shops. (YB)
