GREY SKIES with ominous rain clouds that occasionally burst to cause brief showers, cast a damper on Budget Day 2015.
The jury is out on whether it could be blamed on the weather, but there appeared to be a general lack of public interest in the occasion. The normally heavily trafficked environs of the Public Buildings were almost bare yesterday on what has traditionally been a day of heightened activity. Curious onlookers stood around in anticipation of the presentation of Government’s fiscal report and projections for another year.
There was just the occasional passer-by and a few people waited patiently outside the Parliament gates for the bell that signals the beginning of Budget proceedings.
