Sealy aiming for ‘full employment’

IN ANOTHER four or five years, Barbados shouldn’t have an unemployment problem in its tourism industry.

In fact, the sector should have “full employment”, meaning just “negligible” unemployment.

Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy painted this picture last night as parliamentarians debated the Budget which Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler presented in the House of Assembly on Monday.

Sealy said that given all the construction planned or now going on in the industry, Barbados should have a total of 10 000 hotel rooms by 2019-20, compared to 5 900 when the Democratic Labour Party took power in 2008.
