New statue for Sir Garfield

SOME CELEBRITIES would be lucky to have one statue of themselves.

But famous cricketer and National Hero Sir Garfield Sobers is such an iconic figure he’s going to have a second statue – and a large chunk of a Sporting & Entertainment Wall of Fame.

Sir Garfield, Barbados’ only living National Hero, figures prominently in plans for a Sports Café and Networking Centre that will help diversify the offerings at the Sports Complex in Wildey, St Michael that already bears his name, Minister of Sport Stephen Lashley said yesterday.
