Zouks roll over Patriots

THERE WAS NO rain to determine the outcome this time.

St Lucia Zouks recorded a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over newcomers St Kitts Patriots earlier tonight when the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 Cricket Tournament continued at Beausejour Stadium, St Lucia.

Johnson Charles batted through the innings and Zouks reached 150 for three with 26 balls remaining, overhauling Patriots’ score of 149 for six.

Andre Fletcher added 48 and Kevin Pietersen 18.

Earlier, Man of the Match Shannon Gabriel rocked Patriots, taking three wickets for 19 runs off his four over. Fidel Edwards took two for 29.

Patriots’ captain Marlon Samuels was not out on 52 and Sohail Tanvir showed late resistance with 26 not out after Devon Thomas scored 34 and Martin Guptill 14.

Gabriel claimed the prized wicket of Shahid Afridi for one, but he had Edwards had already done the damage, leaving the Patriots reeling on 19 for four after 4.1 overs.
