THE BARBADOS TRIDENTS bent the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel into submission on Thursday night with an emphatic eight-wicket win for their third straight victory in the Hero Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 cricket match in front of a sold-out crowd at Kensington Oval.

Dilshan Munaweera scored 39 and Dwayne Smith 33 as the Tridents raced to 98-2 in 14 overs after the Red Steel found the going tough on a lightning quick pitch and limped to 95-9 in their 20 overs.

Tridents fast bowler Jason Holder took full advantage of the bouncy conditions to take 3-11. He ran through the Red Steel top order, taking the wickets of Cameron Delport (0), Kamran Akmal (1) and Darren Bravo (0). Ravi Rampaul, Robin Peterson, Kieron Pollard and Jeevan Mendis all took one wicket each. Holder was named the Man Of The Match.

With just 96 runs needed for victory, the Tridents had a blazing opening stand of 73.
