THE RECENT DEATH OF 11-year-old Abijah Holder in a car accident outside the entrance to The Villages at Coverley has now become a political issue.

The youngster’s tragic death was caught up in debate over the failure of some state agencies to act because of perceived political interference.

Opposition Leader Mia Mottley speaking at a political meeting on Sunday night at Codrington Hill, St Michael charged that the projection from Coverley’s entrance and exit on the ABC highway was ordered to be removed by the chief town planner more than two years ago but it still remains in place.

According to Mottley: “All of us who go to the airport know it. I don’t need to tell you how it comes out in to the road. I don’t need to tell you that it is in the road reserve. What I need to tell you is that the chief town planner would have advised that same developer, a company related to Preconco, Housing Concepts, run by the same Mark Maloney that they needed to remove that obstruction from the road reserve.” (GE)
