OPPOSITION LEADER MIA MOTTLEY wants Government to put a stop to the controversial waste-to-energy plant to be built by Cahill Energy.
Speaking to the DAILY NATION ahead of a Barbados Labour Party public meeting at Codrington Hill, St Michael last night, Mottley said the project should not go ahead as planned in September until all the facts were given to the public.
“This project must stop and must stop until the public of Barbados is given all the facts and all the agreements because it cannot be done in our name,” she said.
Two weeks ago during the Budget debate in the House of Assembly, Mottley exposed contentious details of the agreement between Government and Guernsey-based Cahill Energy to build a plasma gasification plant in St Thomas, at a reported cost of $700 million.
