Schoolboys score two centuries in Sir Garry tourney

THE FIRST TWO CENTURIES of the 29th Annual Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools’ Cricket Tournament were scored yesterday.

At James Bryan Complex in Market Hill, St George, Fahd Janjua of Solihull scored 107 not out as they beat Presentation College by three runs after scoring 234 for five.

Fatima College’s Sean Persaud was 110 not out when they reached 188 for five to hand Foundation School their second loss of the tournament at Gall Hill.

Local teams Foundation, The Lodge School, Queen’s College, BCL Juniors and Hamilton Lashley Foundation were all on the losing side in the second round.

Combermere had a bounce-back two-wicket victory over Vishnu Boys, while St Leonard’s Boys’ and Harrison College moved to 2-0.

Combermere School 133-8 in 26.4 overs (Dashawn Sylvain 44, KCey Williams 16 not out, Darren Cuffie 15, Joshua Cooke 14 not out, Kevon Bartlett 11; Carl Vialva 3-30, Akeel Mohammed 3-31, Nickyle Sadhoo 2-11). Combermere School won by two wickets.

At Gall Hill: Foundation School 186-6 in 34 overs (Shaquan Carrington 49, Joshua Corbin 36, Daryl Husbands 33, Darren Alleyne 27; Donovan Clayton 3-36, Anand Lochan 2-19). Fatima College 188-5 in 32 overs (Sean Persaud 110 not out, Jean-Paul Rocke 33, Wendell George 15; Aykem Walrond 2-40, Shaquan Carrington 2-55). Fatima College won by five wickets.

At Wayne Daniel: St Leonard’s Boys 222 in 39.4 overs (Sadrian Ward 79, Shakeel Turney 31, Damario Goodman 24, Jamar Ifill 14; Alex Mason 4-56, Sam Barrett 2-17). Sedburgh School 157 in 33.4 overs (Chris Sanders 33, Alex Mullins 32, James Park-Johnson 24, Max Silvester 20, Steven Croft 14; Damario Goodman 3-50, Sadrian Ward 2-19, Deswin Currency 2-31). St Leonard’s Boys won by 65 runs.

Zone B

At Friendship: Dominica Schools 233-6 in 34 overs (Deon Burton 72, Rahim Prosper 63, Terrel Toussaint 28, Ndo Joseph 20 not out, Drean Joseph 15; Mario St Hill 2-39, Keliel Marshall 2-44). The Lodge School 111 in 17.3 overs (Keliel Marshall 21 not out, Karrem Drakes 18, Andre Harewood 15; Kasseim Peltier 5-49, Jean-Phillip Barrie 3-14). Dominica Schools won by 122 runs.

At Crab Hill:  Oakville Cricket Academy 240-5 in 40 overs (Vishal Ram 110 – 11×4, 2×6 – Faisal Jamkhandi 38, Neil Johnson 33, Danniel Griffiths 33; Hakeem Ellis 2-26). Hamilton Lashley Foundation 237 in 39.3 overs (Hakeem Ellis 55, Dashawn Walcott 30, Paulanderson Fields 27, Shevon Brooks 24, Andre Skeete 19, Micah Thornhill 19, Javon Grovesnor 17; Serathirajal Aarun 2-26, William Thomas 2-44). Oakville Cricket Academy won by three runs.

At Briar Hall: Queen’s Park Cricket Club 265 in 35 overs (Jonathan Bootan 82, Javan Byrne 59, Dexter Sween 23, Stephon Ramdial 22 not out, Callis Romaine 22; Marc Cyrus 2-41, Joshua Burton 2-53).
