Call to convene Social Partners

That, essentially, is the private sector and trade union movement’s blunt message to Prime Minister Freundel Stuart in a letter that was hand delivered to his office yesterday.
In a straight-talking manner, the letter outlined the bodies’ concerns about being ignored by Government on critical issues, broached their anxieties on matters of governance and transparency, and hinted at the increasing industrial unrest in the country which could undermine the ailing economy.
The letter, signed by Barbados Private Sector Association (BPSA) chairman, Alex McDonald, stated that that organisation and the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB) have discussed the situation and feel it is critical that a meeting of the Social Partnership be held, since the last one was on July 18 last year.
